A little about me

Hello 🙂 My name is Arash, and I am a photographer based in Helsinki, Finland. As a multidisciplinary photographer and researcher, my lens captures the overlooked corners of the human experience. Through high contrast, black and white aesthetics, I create a sense of timelessness that invites viewers to pause and reflect. I’m drawn to abandoned spaces such as industrial halls, empty houses, forgotten places, where human absence tells more powerful stories than presence ever could. These lost places serve as perfect canvases for exploring the beauty in impermanence and the poetry in what remains when everything else has gone.

The gothic melancholic aesthetic permeates my work through dramatic lighting, architectural elements, and symbolic imagery. I find myself repeatedly drawn to the interplay between light and shadow, using natural light to create ethereal qualities or low lighting to craft mysterious, otherworldly atmospheres. Photography for me is more than documentation, it’s a medium to draw surreal images that question the depths of existence. When you explore my portfolio, you’re not just viewing photographs; you’re experiencing visual poetry that shines a light on the complex states of being human.
